Dr. Boles has been available as an expert witness in legal cases since the mid-1990s. He will review the records upon request, and give his opinions to the attorney and those directly involved as he sees it. Some of the areas in which he has performed a legal review include:<\/p>\n

  1. Munchausen-by-proxy\/fictitious disorder-by-proxy\/medical child abuse:<\/strong> This is currently an active area due to the recent increase in reporting by hospitals.   2. Vaccine court:<\/strong> Dr. Boles believes in vaccination, and his own four children have been fully vaccinated, along with the vast majority of his patients. However, Dr. Boles has seen too many children with similar patterns of neurological deterioration following vaccination in early life to believe that all vaccinations are safe in all children. He believes that some children have genetic factors that increase the risk of vaccination-associated disease, in the presence of certain environmental risk factors, and at a vulnerable age. He strongly believes that additional research into these genetic vulnerabilities could someday soon identify children at high risk, and thus lower vaccine injury rates. At the same time, testing could identify the vast majority of the population as being at low risk, which would result in increased overall vaccination rates.<\/li>\n
  3. Medical malpractice:<\/strong> Dr. Boles has represented both patients and physicians in a wide range of different types of cases, particularly concerning Mitochondrial Medicine.<\/li>\n
  4. Product liability:<\/strong>\u00a0Like in the situation for vaccinations, adverse reactions to medications is likely increased in some people based on their genetics. Dr. Boles’ opinions and testimony are informed based on a strong understanding of pathophysiology and genetics.<\/li>\n
  5. Personal injury:<\/strong> Especially in cases of individuals with underlying genetic disorders.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Despite testimony in many cases in several states, legal work remains a relatively-small aspect of Dr. Boles’ overall efforts.<\/p>\n
